Meet Marybeth
Yoga is not only for the young and flexible. It is for all people, to help bring us closer to peace, harmony and happiness.
Her path
Marybeth has been drawn to yoga since she was young. She completed her first 200-hour teacher training in 2018, and her devotion only grew as she realized there was much more to yoga than the poses.
During the pandemic she completed a 300-hour training online with MVP, which deepened her interest in Ayurveda and yoga philosophy. That led her to Shakti Yoga in Woodstock, New York, where she studied under Linda Winnick for another 200-hour training. She keeps reading, attending seminars and taking new classes, both to strengthen her own practice and to pass that knowledge on to her students.
She opened Marybeth Yoga LLC in 2019 and has been leading classes and retreats ever since.
How she teaches
Her style is hatha yoga with a strong focus on alignment, informed by more than 30 years in the medical imaging field. That grounding in anatomy shows up in her classes as precise anatomical cues and a clear sense of the physiological benefits of each practice.
Her no-nonsense approach aims to get every person practicing as they are able. People of all abilities, backgrounds, sizes, genders and religions are not only welcome but encouraged to practice with Marybeth.
Off the mat
When she's not teaching, Marybeth enjoys hiking, gardening, kayaking, fitness, a good comedy show, reading, cleaning, and time with her family and pets. She cares deeply about animal rights, keeping the earth clean and healthy for generations to come, inclusiveness and equal rights for all people, and creating a safer world for our children.
